ABU DHABI - The ninth session of the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX- Abu Dhabi 2011) will be at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on September 14th -17th, 2011, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Gharbia (the Western Region) in Abu Dhabi, President of the Emirates Falconers Club. ADIHEX is held with the support of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH).
The event, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre during the period between 14 and 17 September 2011.
Abdullah Al Qubaisi, the Director of ADIHEX - Abu Dhabi 2011 and Director of the Communications Department at ADACH, has announced the start of registration for the various competitions organized by the Exhibition every year. Local participation applications have until 30 August and international participation applications have until 12 September 2011.
Competitions include the art of making and preparing Arabic coffee in the traditional way, the most beautiful Nabati poems describing a falcon, the loss of a bird, and poems on hunting known locally as ‘mignas”, the best research on hunting and equestrian among the Arabs, the most beautiful painting on hunting, equestrian and heritage, the most beautiful photograph on hunting and equestrian, the most beautiful and largest hybrid falcons (hybridized in captivity), including the Gyr Hurr, Gyr Shahin and male Gyr, and the most beautiful Saluki hound, of both the Reesh and Hoss categories.
The painting and photography contests come as part of the keenness to preserve the local heritage, familiarize people with the sports of fathers and forefathers, and to contribute to the history of wildlife and the desert environment. They are also intended to shed light on the prestigious position of falcons and horses in the UAE, and familiarize the generations with the cultural, civil, and environmental heritage of their fathers and forefathers as well as the importance of preserving it.
The contest is aimed at all painters and photographers around the world. The painting competition includes: the most beautiful painting in the fields of hunting and equestrian, and in the subject of heritage. The most beautiful photo contest is divided into two categories: hunting and equestrian.
Each artist is allowed to participate with one work in each contest. The size of paintings must not exceed 120 x 80 cm, and the size of photos must not exceed 42 x 30 cm. Works must be submitted in CD in the form of digital files (JPG), with quality of no less than 300 DPI.
All artworks and photos shall go through the screening committee, which, together with the higher committee organizing the Exhibition, are entitled to reject any work that does not suit the Exhibition or its conditions. Then a competent judging committee shall judge the accepted works.
Each participant must attach an overview of the work submitted, in addition to a personal photograph and a resume. The screening committee has the right to show the participating works in an appropriate manner in the Exhibition, even if they have not received any prize. The competition has the right to use the photos presented in the various publications of the Exhibition.
The top three winners in each category shall be given financial prizes for the first three positions, and certificates of participation for all candidates.
The deadline for receiving the works at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi is 30 August 2011 for local participations, and 12 September 2011, for international participations.
Works shall be handed back to participants the next day after the end of the Exhibition for a period of up to seven days. Participants are not entitled to claim participating works after the end of the period specified.
